It’s almost Halloween and we are excited about how far creators and builders on the zero authority platform have come!
On February 4, 2022, we made our first GitHub commit to Zero Authority. That moment marked the beginning of an exciting journey to bring a truly trustless, permissionless protocol to life on a Bitcoin Layer 2. It’s been 32 months, and we’ve learned a lot, experienced milestones, and built a community we’re proud of. In this post, we’ll reflect on what we’ve accomplished and the future we envision for decentralized systems.

- 41 bounties posted and distributed with 900 STX in rewards.
- Over 2,000 monthly active users contributing to the ecosystem every month.
These numbers not only reflect the strength of our platform but also highlight the growing demand for decentralized, permissionless systems.
Why We Started
When we first set out to build Zero Authority, we saw a major gap in the decentralized world—trust and transparency were still centralized, controlled by platforms and intermediaries. We envisioned an economy where people could interact, earn, and exchange value with complete autonomy. We wanted to eliminate middlemen, allowing users to prove their value through on-chain reputation and verified activity without needing third-party validation. The dream was to build a protocol where every transaction is transparent, every action is verifiable, and ownership is both real and provable on-chain.
